Sampling Technique:
Sample:
- 16 right-handed, licensed taxi driver, male taxi drivers, average age 44
- matched with 16 right-handed, male, non taxi divers of the same age
- (Magnetic fields rotated around the head via the scanner, produced a 3D picture of the structures of the brain), measured the volume of grey matter in the hippocampi of taxi and non taxi drivers.
- Taxi drivers brains were different from the non-taxi drivers brains as:
- The posterior hippocampi of taxi drivers were larger.
- The anterior hippocampi of non-taxi drivers were larger.
