NOTE: If you have any Q's to ask me, go onto the Blog (Click on 'More' at the top then 'Blog'). I endeavour to back to you as soon as I can. Remember no Q is a silly Q. I am here to help if you need it. Thanks)
Below are very brief notes on the studies for M a C. They are the basic points you will need in the exam. If you think I have not elaborated enough, use this as an opportunity to look back at your notes or to trigger the memory of the more detailed information you do know. The writing below is correct to the best of my knowledge.
INTERVIEWING WITNESSES
Bruce- Facial recognition
- paid £2 - E-fit (huge database of facial features) - sorted (had to match) 10 celeb (e.g Matt Damon, Ben Affleck) composites out of 40 provided in a photo array - 33% whole and external composites sorted correctly, compared to only 19.5% of internal composites (whole and external composites easier to solve and solved equally as good)
- photo array with foils (fakes)- making task more difficult - presented one at a time - composite faces made v.similar (difficult to solve) and v.different (easier to solve) - had to match composites to the celeb faces to the photo array (shown celeb face at start) - 42% external composites sorted correctly, compared to only 30% internal composites (again, external composites easier to solve)
Loftus- Weapon Focus Effect
- Control= 2nd person in queue gives cashier a CHEQUE (I think of it as an altruistic act- the person behind you offers to pay for the 1st persons order)
- Control= 39% (almost 4 times better)
- Control= 2.4 secs
Fisher and Geiselman- Cognitive Interview (CI)
- avoid leading Q's recall from diff perspective/order - give detail, no matter how trivial (insignificant) you feel it is - 'close your eyes', 'visualise'
